We regularly work on heritage structures and Listed Buildings where our experience, traditional trade skills and enviable reputation with the Local Authorities offer the best value for our many clients.
Below is a selection of the most common services that we provide.
Carpentry & Joinery
We provide bespoke carpentry and joinery from our on-site workshops including fitted kitchens, staircases, windows (fixed, casement and sash), doors, flooring and conservatories.
We can also match existing timber moldings and other details to effect repair and replacement of existing cabinetry and woodwork.
Bespoke Metalwork
We outsource all bespoke metalwork to a local blacksmith and steelwork fabricators with whom we have worked for many years, enabling us to control the interfacing with other building components and finishes to a high standard.
Plumbing & Heating Systems
Our in-house plumbing and heating engineers are GAS Safe registered and can deal with any issues with your heating system, including the design and installation of entirely new systems able to dramatically reduce your energy consumption.
Plastering & Dry Lining
We offer traditional rendering and plastering, as well as the installation of dry lining partitions to a number of different fire-rated and acoustic specifications.
Masonry Construction & Repairs
Our knowledge of traditional materials and techniques in masonry began with Gavin Houchell - one of the founders of the firm - who began his career as a bricklayer. Masonry repair work to Listed Buildings requires care and the correct use of materials, and can greatly improve the look and longevity of your period home.
Timber Frame Construction
Summerhouses, sheds and other garden structures including stand-alone home offices are all most economically built using timber frames, and allow for many different finishes to the interior and exterior.
We also carry out new build projects and extensions to existing houses, many of which are timber framed.
Roofing
Effective maintenance and repair of roofs often requires lead flashing, replacement of gutter boards and bargeboards, and substantial re-roofing is a great opportunity to improve the thermal performance of buildings by upgrading insulation and vapour membranes.
Electrics
We out-source our electrical services to local electrical firms with whom we have a longstanding relationship. Everything from minor repairs and additional circuits to the installation of energy-saving digital control systems and complete rewiring is carried out in close collaboration with our partnering firms, ensuring the best quality results every time.
Ground Work
We carry out many different kinds of ground works depending on site and situation. These works include paving, patios and other hard landscaping and surfacing to underground drainage and structural underpinning to existing foundations.
Painting & Decorating
Our experienced painters and decorators routinely carry out both interior and exterior work, as well as other forms of timber treatment such as waxing and oiling.
